1. Introduction
On 29th December 2025, Globalnet Foundation in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Command Safety Team conducts fire safety education for Adventist Youth Ministries (Joint Annual Youth Camp) at Tweneboah Koduah Senior High School in Sekyere Kumawu District, the session aimed to empower youth with practical fire safety knowledge and emergency response skills.
2. Topics Covered
A. Classes of Fire
- Class A: Ordinary combustibles (wood, paper, cloth).
- Class B: Flammable liquids (petrol, oil, paint).
- Class C: Flammable gases (butane, propane).
- Class D: Combustible metals (magnesium, aluminum).
- Class E (Electrical): Electrical equipment and wiring.
B. Methods Used to Extinguish Fires
- Cooling: Using water to reduce heat in Class A fires.
- Smothering: Cutting off oxygen supply with foam, CO₂, or fire blankets.
- Starvation: Removing fuel sources to prevent fire spread.
- Chemical Inhibition: Using dry chemical powders to interrupt combustion reactions.
C. Fire Extinguisher & Fire Blanket Demonstrations
- Demonstration of the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).
- Correct selection of extinguishers for different fire classes.
- Practical use of fire blankets to smother small fires.
- Youth participants engaged in hands-on practice.
D. Safe Evacuation Procedures
- Identification and use of designated escape routes.
- Avoiding elevators and using stairways.
- Assisting vulnerable individuals during evacuation.
- Assembling at a safe muster point for accountability.
- Emphasis on calmness and discipline to prevent panic.
- Stop, Drop, and Roll Strategy: In case clothing catches fire, participants were taught to:
- Stop immediately (do not run, as running fans the flames).
- Drop to the ground.
- Roll over repeatedly to smother the flames and extinguish them.
3. Outcomes
- Youth participants gained practical fire safety skills.
- Increased awareness of fire hazards in schools, homes, and public spaces.
- Strengthened collaboration between Globalnet Foundation and Ashanti Regional Command Safety Team.
4. Conclusion
The fire safety education program held on 29th December 2025 was a success. It equipped SDA youth with vital knowledge and hands-on experience, contributing to a safety-conscious generation capable of protecting lives and property.
